Sanjida Islam

Exercise Physiologist

Where did you study?

University of New South Wales (UNSW)

What inspired you to become an exercise physiologist?

I have always been interested in helping individuals in regard to their health and well-being. Staying active and healthy has also been an essential part of growing up. Becoming an Accredited Exercise Physiologist has given me this opportunity to achieve my desire to help others improve their quality of life through exercise and movement.

What are your areas of expertise and special interest?

Besides treating physical, musculoskeletal injuries, I also enjoy working with mental health populations and implementing exercise into their routines to enhance their mood, mind and mental well-being. I am a strong believer in not just helping you lift weights in the gym, but also in lifting your confidence for everyday life.

What's your favourite part of working with clients?

Being an Exercise Physiologist has given me the opportunity to help people improve their health and quality of life through the delivery of exercise. I absolutely love witnessing my clients making clear and meaningful changes in their lifestyle and being able to see their progress towards their fitness, rehabilitation and health goals.

What's one piece of advice you give to almost every client?

Focus on progress, not perfection. Success begins with baby steps and celebrating the small wins along the journey are crucial towards achieving your goals.

How do you stay active and healthy in your own life?

When I’m not in the clinic and gym demonstrating exercises to my clients, I enjoy going out for leisurely walks, maintaining my own exercise routines and ensuring to dedicate time for rest and recovery. Establishing a work-life balance is just as important!

What's something people might be surprised to learn about you?

I’m a full time Exercise Physiologist; part-time nap enthusiast.
