Keenan Granger
Exercise Physiologist
Where did you study?
Charles Sturt University.
What inspired you to become an exercise physiologist?
Having previously worked with clients on general strength and conditioning, I found the greatest satisfaction in working with rehabilitation clients. Helping them return to regular daily activities especially after surgery or enabling them to do things previously limited by function or pain is highly motivating. A want to expand my knowledge and ability to work with an even greater variety of people lead me to exercise physiology.
What are your areas of expertise and special interest?
Whether its to build strength for daily living or dot aid in rehabilitation post-injury or surgery, I particularly enjoy implementing strength training across all populations. I have a keen interest in aiding neurological conditions, using exercise to improve daily function or lessen the impacts of progressive conditions.
What's your favourite part of working with clients?
I love hearing from clients that they can do new activities or things they previously couldn’t do at home because of pain, injury or lack of strength. Seeing the little wins is awesome!
What's one piece of advice you give to almost every client?
Consistency is better than perfection! A little bit of improvement each week can add up to a huge difference in a year’s time.
How do you stay active and healthy in your own life?
Being run off my feet with 2 young children usually does the trick! I do try to get a couple of gym sessions in when I have time to keep my head on straight.
What's something people might be surprised to learn about you?
The last few years I've been training and competing as a middleweight strongman. My favourite events have to be the carrying of random heavy objects, atlas stones and truck pulls.
